Submission Guidelines
New African Scientist welcomes submissions on science, technology, and innovation in Africa. We accept news articles, scientific findings, biographical feature articles, columns, and explainers.
Length:
- News articles: 450-750 words
- Feature articles: 1000-2000 words
- Forum: 450-750 words
- Research snippet: 90-100 words
Types of articles:
- News articles: recent advances, events relevant to science, technology, and innovation
- New scientific findings: by African researchers, written for a lay audience (no press releases)
- Biographical feature article: a biography of a notable African scientist, engaging narrative, comments from other experts, highlights impact of the scientist’s work
- Forums: opinion pieces about science, technology, and innovation relevant to African scholars, general public, and policymakers
- Explainers: explaining complex events, findings, etc. relevant to the public, scholars, and policymakers
We do not publish advocacy pieces. Writers with financial or other conflicts of interest should disclose such information, and we reserve the right to retract the article if such information is not disclosed.
